How to do...Rachel's Spring Look

By: Cynde Watson

Celebrity skin and make-up expert Cynde Watson shows us how to re-create one of Rachel's favorite looks...

STEP 1: SKIN
Great makeup results start with great skin. The change in season from Winter to Spring means a change in your makeup regime. For Rachel’s Spring look I transition from a heavy moisturizer to a lightweight hydrating face lotion with SPF.
**Special Tip: I recommend these 3 Lightweight Moisturizer/Face Lotion Products:
OLAY Total Effects Fragrance-Free Moisturizer With Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15 – Fights 7 signs of aging  and helps protect against UVA/UVB rays with a proven vitamin-rich complex for younger-looking skin. ANTHONY LOGISTICS Lightweight Face Lotion – Contains silk amino acids to enhance water retention, re-texturize, and ease the appearance of fine lines. BOBBI BROWN Protective Face Lotion SPF 15 – Hydrates as Anti-Oxidant Vitamin E aids in fighting skin-damaging free radicals; while Chamomile calms and soothes the skin.

STEP 2: FACE
Fresh & Flawless Face. When applying foundation/tinted moisturizer, it should match your skin exactly. On Rachel I test three shades on the jawline and blend, selecting the shade that completely disappears into her skin. I use a damp sponge when applying foundation/tinted moisturizer.  When using a powder foundation, I tap off the brush before applying to the face. On Rachel to complete application, I applied Skindanavia make-up finishing spray to keep her face fresh.
***Special tip: I recommend these three Foundation/Tinted Moisturizers as used on Rachel:
MAKE UP FOREVER – HD Foundation (Rachel is wearing shade "173”).
JOUER Cosmetics – Matte Moisture Tint (RR in "Hazel")
RICH Cosmetics – Anti-Oxidant Dual Powder Foundation with Sunscreen (RR wears "Cinnamon")

STEP 3: EYES
Soft, smokey and playful. As seen on Rachel, apply a soft wash of “Gunmetal" from the Urban Decay NAKED eye shadow palette from lid to crease with a blending brush. To make her eyes pop, I trace her eye line top and bottom close to her lash line with "Creep" from the Urban Decay NAKED eye shadow palette applied with an eyeliner brush. Note: To fill in her eyebrows, I choose a pencil or eye shadow that matches the shade of her eyebrows not her hair color. Apply 3 coats of RICH Cosmetics’ "Volume X" Mascara. ***Special Tip: To amplify your eyes, add individual lashes for extra glam!

STEP 4: CHEEKS
Bronze with a POP of color. Next, I applied bronzer to Rachel’s temples, forehead and hollows of her cheeks beneath her cheekbones. Rachel is wearing Sephora's "Argentinean Duo" Silk blush /bronzer duo.
Special Tip: Always tap the brush before applying bronzer or blush.

STEP 5: LIPS
Popsicle stained lip. To achieve Rachel’s popsicle stained lips, I color lips in with "Plum Rouge" lipstick pencil by Color by Cynde Watson.
***Special tip: Before you put lipstick, apply lip balm and blot for extra moisturization.
