When I need to shift gears from the design studio in NYC, I head to Ka’upulehu on the Big Island, hit the open road, listen to the surf and UN-learn the fast paced ways of the Big Apple. All of which leads to an abundance of inspiration for my professional life!
Where to shop:
The Hualalai Trading Company and Seaside Luxe had everything I needed. Comfy chic tees that I had forgotten and colorful gifts to come home with - it’s almost cheating that it is located on the property of the hotel!
Where to eat:
Every journey deserves a unique local cultural experience. I always look forward to tapping into this through food…of course! I was able experience this at Sam Choy's Kai Lani in Keauhou. The food is amazing and the view is breathtaking.
What's in my TRAVEL bag:
A checklist of essentials to ensure the longest possible day on the beach.
1. Bobbi Brown Travel Essentials
2. Jo Malone Red Roses Perfume
3. Caudalie Beauty Elixir
4. Passport
5. Light Green Tic Tacs
6. EOS Lip Balm
7. Energy Bar, usually chocolate
8. Jacquie Aiche Amulet Necklace
Where to sleep:
I like to drop out of sight after finishing a collection. The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka’upulehu, is exceptionally private. Perfect for the soul-searching, sun soaked, color-filled days of vast sunsets and sunrises I long for to re-charge.
What to do:
As a designer, I spend a lot of time exploring within my mind. On the island, I got to explore and adventure through the island's volcano’s and star observatory Mauna Kea Observatory, located on Mauna Kea. Stars are one of my most favorite fascinations. Seeing them this close and this clear with talks given by some of the world's most knowledgeable professors that are there to study...simply celestial!
