KASIGAU WEAVERS

The women from rural villages around Mount Kasigau in the southern part of Kenya gave made weaving beautiful baskets their livelihoods along with farming. Basket weaving has become increasingly important in the past years as crops have been destroyed by elephants migrating through their fields to Tsovo East National Park.

What began with simple rolled paper bead earrings has become a thriving workshop and business in Swaziland. These decorative bowls are handmade entirely from recycled newspaper.
